Speaking to TOI, Avinash Patil, deputy director, town planning, said the PCMC is holding discussions with the neighbouring company for getting their land for parking of visitors' vehicles.

Patil said, "The company located adjacent to the PCMC main building near the exit gate had sought space for entry and exit of its vehicles near the PCMC exit gate. However, it was not possible as a water tank, electricity transformer and septic tank are located there. So, we have suggested that the company give section of its approach road to the PCMC for parking and in return the company can utilise the 12m road adjacent to the PCMC building for its vehicular movement."

He said a meeting was held by the municipal commissioner with the company officials in which they have shown their willingness to give their land to the PCMC for parking. Further rounds of discussions will be held to finalise the transfer of land.

An official in the engineering department said, "The adjacent company uses the 8m wide road from its gate that links it to the Pune-Mumbai highway. The exit gate of the PCMC main office building is also located along this road. If the company gives the PCMC the land from this approach road, we can develop a parking lot. The company will shift its gate along the 12m wide road that links the Pune-Mumbai highway to the Pimpri-Bhosari road."

Thus, the PCMC will get 1,350 sq.m land which can be utilised for parking purposes. "This will reduce the parking space crunch in the PCMC main office building premises."

Speaking to TOI, Anand Bhalerao, a resident of Bhosari, said, "There is shortage of parking space in the PCMC main office building premises. As a result, we have to park the vehicles on the road near the exit gate, which is unsafe."
