Allowed To Citizens Lodge Their Complaints At The Police Chowkis, Minister Tells PolicemenBy akansha, Section News
Minister of State for Home Affairs Ramesh Bagwe on Thursday ordered the Pune police to start registering first information reports(FIRs) at police chowkis.
Earlier, citizens were allowed to lodge their complaints at the police chowkis. But the Pune Police thought that people would be benefited if they directly interact ed with the experienced senior officers at police stations while lodging their complaints. So a few months ago, the department took a decision thatFIRs would be registered only at the police stations. But considering the complaints from citizens about the inconvenience caused in lodging police complaints under the new system, Bagwe has asked the Pune police to revert to the old system. The minister had called a meeting of the divisional commissioner, senior police officers including commissioner Satya Pal Singh, MLAs, municipal commissioners and chief executive officers of cantonments. Also, to increase the powers of the traffic police, police officers of the rank of havaldars have been given the authority to collect fine from the offenders. Earlier, only the officers of the rank of assistant sub inspector and above were allowed to collect fine. Source: The Indian Express Register FIRs at police chowkis also, minister tells policemen
