Health Science Courses Admission Process From July 3

The admission process for the health science courses in the state will begin from July 3. However, there is no increase in the number of seats for the medical courses.

The directorate of medical education and research (DMER) has come out with a notification regarding the admission on June 26, which is also available on the website www.dmer.org. A copy of preference form information brochure is also available on the website alongwith the elaborate schedule of the admission process. "The candidates are requested to go through the schedule and appear for counselling at the respective regional centres in accordance with their state merit list (SML) number and category," said W B Tayde, director, DMER.

There are four regional centres Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad and Nagpur. The candidates from Pune, Ahmednagar, Sangli, Solapur, Satara, Kolhapur, Nashik, Nandurbar and Dhule districts will come under the Pune regional centre and are requested to report as per schedule at B J Medical College, said Tayde. The admission process will be carried out from July 3 to 11. A separate timetable for physically handicapped students is also displayed on the website. Their admissions will be from July 6 to 11.

Application for engineering course
According to the authorities of directorate of technical education (DTE), the DTE will announce the timetable for the admission process for engineering colleges next week once the picture of number of seats available in the state gets clear. The application forms for the six autonomous engineering colleges in the state CoEP and VIT, Pune, VJTI and ICT, Mumbai, SGGSIET, Nanded and Valchand Engineering College, Sangali will be accepted till 5 pm on Sunday. Admissions to these six autonomous engineering colleges are conducted independently. According to N B Dhokey, chairman of the admission process, till Saturday, around 13,000 application forms were sold and 9,900 were accepted. "There are 2,685 seats in the six colleges. The SGGSIET, Nanded is offering chemical engineering course instead of sugar technology course for which 30 seats are available. The seats for production engineering in the same college have been increased from 40 to 60," he said.
