Normal Water Supply On Cards For Ajmera ColonyBy Riti, Section Pune Festival
Water supply to Ajmera colony and nearby areas in Pimpri is expected to be normalised on Tuesday as civic officials have inspected the
supply network to identify the fault. The Ajmera colony, Vastu Udyog and nearby residential colonies have been getting irregular and inadequate water for the last one week. Speaking to TOI, Vijaya Gaikwad, a resident of Ajmera colony, said: "The colony is suffering from water shortage for the past one week. Water supply from the PCMC is inadequate to fill the common water tank of the society. As a result, residents get less water, which affects their daily routine." Local corporator Rajesh Pillay of the NCP said: "The areas in my ward are suffering from low water pressure for the past four-five days. I have asked the officials to find the fault. I am supervising the supply of water to each of the sectors in Ajmera colony with the help of water tankers." Vishwas Gaikwad, additional city engineer and chief of the water supply department, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, said: "Ajmera colony and nearby areas did not receive adequate water as less water was pumped from the Sector 23 water purification plant to Nehrunagar. We are trying to find out the reason for the inadequate water supply. There may be an air gap or valve problem." "The work of finding the fault is in progress. We are expecting that normal water supply would resume tomorrow. Meanwhile, we are sending water tankers to the colony to provide water."
