The stand-off in the informal alliance, Pune Pattern, ruling the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) continued to linger in the civic body with the Shiv Sena-BJP in standing committee going against the NCP in supporting the civic administration proposal to provide 75 per cent of salary to suspended employees as against the 50 per cent given now. However, the Congress and MNS joined hands with the NCP to get the proposal through.

The proposal was passed with 11 votes in favour and 5 against it. The BJP and NCP had been taking on each other from last few days after the senior party leaders of both the parties criticized each other during the recently concluded elections for the state legislative council.

The repercussions of the violent protest among the party cadre later reached in other cities even as the senior party leaders continued to remain silent over the future of the unnatural alliance. The NCP, Shiv Sena and BJP had come together to keep the Congress out of power in the civic body. Taking advantage of the stand off between the NCP and BJP, the Congress efforts to join hands with the NCP were not payed heeds to the NCP leaders.

The BJP along with its saffron ally also make their differences open in the general body by giving slogans against the Congress-led UPA government over the alleged horse-trading for the no confidence vote in the Lok Sabha.

The coming together of Congress and NCP for getting the proposal approved is all set to ensure that the suspended officials would get 75 per cent salary as per the rules followed by state government.

The proposal also includes reinstating the suspended official with charges of minor irregularities to overcome the shortage of staff. The civic administration had sought the approval to proposal saying it was loosing out the service of the suspended officials despite paying them part salary resulting in to the civic body. However, the employees with serious charges would not be reinstated, it clarified.
