The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has developed an estate management software for managing data pertaining to the nearly 6,500 properties owned and leased out by it.
The software will make it easier for the civic body keep a tab on the rent to be received for the properties and also ensure that they are not misused, deputy commissioner (lands and estates department) Suraj Mandhre told mediapersons on Thursday. Earlier, municipal commissioner Pravinsinh Pardeshi formally launched the software.
According to Mandhre, the lands and estates departments has 12,500 records related to its properties. Of these, 6,500 pertain to properties that have been leased out. "Data is yet to be compiled for 1,500 other properties. Using the information that has so far been compiled, the PMC will now issue notices for rent recovery and ensure that the property is used for the desired purpose,'' he said.
The PMC has leased out over 8,000 properties to various individuals and institutions over the past several years. In many cases, the PMC has not entered into a legal agreement with the other party. With the compilation of the property-related data, the corporation will now also be better placed to complete the process of entering into agreements.
