PMC Panel Approves Infrastructure-Related Projects Like Flyovers, Railway Overbridges And Tunnels

In order to speed up the construction of a host of infrastructure-related projects like flyovers, railway overbridges and tunnels, the standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation today gave approval to appoint a number of consultants, who have expertise in the field. Among other things, it also includes creating a feasibility report on monorail as well as water transportation and also pool in money from the Centre as well as overseas banks for these particular task.

The list of these projects include construction of a canal bridge on Sinhagad Road, flyover at Karve Road, flyover from Simla House to Sancheti Hospital chowk, flyover from Nagar Road to Kharadi, flyover from Hadapsar to Saswad Phata, elevated road on Senapati Bapat Road, construction of a river bridge at Kharadi and flyover at Mundhwa, flyover at Nehru Road. The civic administration has sought to appoint separate consultants for each of the project.

Secondly, projects like the Pune-Satara Road at Dhankawadi, railway overbridge at Khadki, flyover on the Mula river at Bopodi confluence, flyover at Handewadi road, flyover for Bombay Engineering Group (BEG) campus, Holkar bridge, Ghorpadi railway overbridge, flyover at Nal Stop on Karve Road, widening of road from Holkar bridge to Chandrama chowk are also in the list

Thirdly, the civic administration has also sought to appoint consultant for developing the road between Shivane and Kharadi by a private agency. The consultants needs to prepare a feasibility report for the project. Naik Consultants, appointed as the consulting agency for the river improvement project by the PMC, has submitted a report on the water transportation in Pune. However, for this project, the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd (IL& FS) needs to get a nod from the Centre and also get funds. It is also supposed to monitor the whole project.

There is also a proposal to implement a monorail project in the city. For this too, the feasibility report needs to be prepared and funds need to be acquired from the Asia Development Bank, World Bank and Japan Bank.
