The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) is undertaking a beautification project at the public places in the Pune Camp area. The drive will include locations such as J.J. garden, the M.G. road walking plaza and various schools run by the board.
J.B. Kangane, the PCB's garden superintendent, told TOI that the project would involve initiating work on the remaining phases of the Muredha nullah eco-park, installing artefacts and statues in the park and other gardens and schools, and giving ornamental touch to side margins of some major roads in the area.
"Although the first phase of the nullah park was opened in 2007, some beautification work remains to be completed. These include furnishing the place with play equipment, tree houses and artefacts," said Kangane.
The PCB is concentrating on park artefacts manufactured with the ferro-concrete technique. "The ferro-concrete structures give artefacts a natural look and earthly appeal. Besides, items made with this particular technique are more eco-friendly," Kangane said. At J.J. Garden, the board has started putting up statues of animals.
The board is putting up benches and canopies in M.G. road, Gurudwara road and some other locations to give an architectural touch to the side margins and open spaces. All the six schools run by the PCB would also be equipped with play equipment.
