City To Witness Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) Floats Today

The sports fraternity of Pune will take part in a colourful extravaganza with the nine games floats of the ensuing 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG), headed by religious `Granth Dindi' on Wednesday. The event will herald the opening of the All India Marathi Sports Literature Sammelan which gets underway at the Balgandharva Rang Mandir from May 1.
The `Granth Dindi' and the rally of floats will start from Deccan Gymkhana and will proceed towards Bal Gandharwa Rang Mandir via the Jangli Maharaj Road. A collage of illustrations by a 100 renowned cartoonists and sports photographs from all over the country will be displayed at the venue.
Experts from various disciplines of sports will explore new avenues for the development of sports literature and culture in Marathi language at the three-day event.
Union power minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde will inaugurate the official opening of the seminar on May 1.
