Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Standing Committee Approves Draft Budget

The standing committee of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) approved the draft budget of 2008-09 and sent it for approval of the civic general body (GB) on Wednesday.
On Tuesday PCMC commissioner Dilip Band had presented the draft budget with an outlay of Rs 1073.65 crore to the committee chairman Ajit Gavhane. Band said that an additional fund, the emergency fund, had been created and funds allocated to it would be utilised as per the recommendations of the commissioner and mayor for emergency and development projects. Committee members moved a resolution that the allocations to the emergency fund should be utilised after consultation with corporators. This resolution has been approved. Gavhane said that the list of social organisations which will receive grants worth Rs 27 lakh from the civic body has been sent to the civic GB meeting for final approval. The standing committee gave a nod to developmental projects with a total expenditure of Rs 31.56 crore, including an expenditure of Rs 17.27 crore on drainage projects and Rs 14.28 crore on engineering department projects. The resolutions to expand the water supply network in Chikhli division and and water supply network in Talawade division at a cost of Rs 6.22 crore and Rs 2.36 crore respectively, were approved, along with strengthening the supply networks at Rs 3.82 crore. The resolutions to lay underground drainage pipelines in areas to the west of Ravet-Kiwale road and near the bypass in Ravet, at a cost of Rs 2.03 crore and Rs 1.15 crore were approved.
